यह कदंब का पेड़ (Yeh Kadamb Ka Ped) - सुभद्रा कुमारी चौहान (Subhadra Kumari Chauhan)

यह कदंब का पेड़ अगर माँ होता यमुना तीरे
मैं भी उस पर बैठ कन्हैया बनता धीरे-धीरे
ले देतीं यदि मुझे बांसुरी तुम दो पैसे वाली
किसी तरह नीची हो जाती यह कदंब की डाली
तुम्हें नहीं कुछ कहता पर मैं चुपके-चुपके आता
उस नीची डाली से अम्मा ऊँचे पर चढ़ जाता
वहीं बैठ फिर बड़े मजे से मैं बांसुरी बजाता
अम्मा-अम्मा कह वंशी के स्वर में तुम्हे बुलाता

सुन मेरी बंसी को माँ तुम इतनी खुश हो जाती
मुझे देखने काम छोड़कर तुम बाहर तक आती

तुमको आता देख बाँसुरी रख मैं चुप हो जाता
पत्तों मे छिपकर धीरे से फिर बाँसुरी बजाता

गुस्सा होकर मुझे डाटती, कहती "नीचे आजा"
पर जब मैं ना उतरता, हँसकर कहती, "मुन्ना राजा"

"नीचे उतरो मेरे भईया तुंझे मिठाई दूँगी,
नये खिलौने, माखन-मिसरी, दूध मलाई दूँगी"


बहुत बुलाने पर भी माँ जब नहीं उतर कर आता
माँ, तब माँ का हृदय तुम्हारा बहुत विकल हो जाता
तुम आँचल फैला कर अम्मां वहीं पेड़ के नीचे
ईश्वर से कुछ विनती करतीं बैठी आँखें मीचे
तुम्हें ध्यान में लगी देख मैं धीरे-धीरे आता
और तुम्हारे फैले आँचल के नीचे छिप जाता
तुम घबरा कर आँख खोलतीं, पर माँ खुश हो जाती
जब अपने मुन्ना राजा को गोदी में ही पातीं
इसी तरह कुछ खेला करते हम-तुम धीरे-धीरे
यह कदंब का पेड़ अगर माँ होता यमुना तीरे

  4. Four stanzas are missing. After Amma Amma keh bansi ke swar me tumhe bulata, its-

    Sun meri bansi ko maa tum itni khush ho jaati,
    Mujhe dekhne kaam chodkar tum bahar tak aati.

    Tumko aata dekh baasuri rakh main chup ho jaata,
    Patto me chipkar dheeere se phir baasuri bajata.

    Ghusse hokar mujhe daatati, kehti "Neeche aaja"
    Par jab main na utarta, haskar kehti, "Munna Raja,"

    "Neeche utro mere bhaiyya tumjhe mithai doongi,
    Naye khilone, maakhan-misri, doodh malai doongi"

    And then it continues with Bahut bulaane...

  6. Ultimate..I read this poem in my 5th standard nearly 15years ago..Excellent poem..
    Can anyone tell how to write comments in Hindi..I am feeling shameful writing comments on my favorite Hindi poem in English!!

  19. Almost 25 years back I read this poem but that time it was a meaningless because of understanding or age factor n also my mother was with me but today I realised the essence of love of mother. I salute to Shrimati Subhdra jee for this beautiful n everlasting kavita. So whoever are living with mother please note heaven is under the feet of mother...Love ur mother

  20. Lovely... no words to describe. Hats off to Shrimati Shubhdra Kumari...the only thing after God is your Mother...no replacement. By reading this great poem I feel I am really sitting with my Amma. My msg to all reader if ur mother is alive please dont loose ur lucky chance to love her, to hug her, to respect her on daily basis..becoz mother position is second after God.

  22. yeh kavita mene 5th class me padhi thi aur me aaj bhi yeh kavita gungunata hun mere jivan ki sabse mahtvpurn kavita hai aur yeh kavita har samay maa ki yaad dilati hai , is kavita me maa aur bete ke pyaar ko bataya hai. yeh kavita me jindagi bhar nahi bhool sakta ,aur yeh kavita me apne bachoon ko bhi sunaunga, when i'll married.
